The European, or common, rabbit is 35-40cm in length and weighs 1.3-2.2kg. The rabbit resembles the hare, but has a smaller body and ears. Its head is oval/round, the back legs are longer than the front legs and its tail is very short. Its coat is short and thick, grey-brown in colour on the upper part of the body and of a lighter color on the sides, with a white belly. In Greece, the hare is only found on some Aegean islands.
