The Magpie is 21cm long and has a tail of up to 25cm. The feathers on its head, throat, back and wings are an iridescent black with blue, green and violet. There are large white spots on the shoulders. The underside is white, the primary plumage is white and the secondary plumage, capping wings and tail are metallic green, blue and purple. It is an indigenous species and is found almost all over Greece apart from Crete.
