Κιρκίρι

(Common names: Papini, Chiriki, Zarioni, Sorsoroli, Bekro, Geratsouli, Kakanari)

The teal, at 35cm in length, is the smallest wild duck. It is distinguished by its green head and yellow feathers under the tail in the drake (male). The hen (female) resembles a smaller version of the Mallard but its head is shiny green edged in black. It is often found in large, dense flocks and is a winter visitor to Greece.
