(Common names: Black head, Black Duck, Toubourlaki)

The Tufted Duck is 43cm in length and a black back, head and breast and a black head tuft characterize the male. The female has a smaller head tuft and white bill base. The under tail is white in the female but this is not as marked as in the female Common Pochard. It is a winter visitor to Greece.
