Hunting in Greece is regulated by an annual decision taken by the Ministry in question, and is based on European Union Guidelines and the latest available biological data and specifies:
- The species which are allowed to be hunted
- The length of the hunting season for each species
- The permitted time a hunter can be active
- The maximum number of game per species which may be hunted daily
- Regions where hunting is forbidden
This ensures that sustainable hunting is ensured according to European ruling.
As an statutory associate of the Ministry of the Environment, the GHF is obliged to submit its proposals for the compilation of the annual regulatory ruling on hunting. These proposals are scientifically documented and aim to ensure the right of Greek hunters to hunt according to sustainable game management principles.
